Things to stay away from and embrace while having melasma

Didn't know this.  Guess I need to start doing this:

=(
  1.  1.Certain foods may stimulate the development of pigment. These foods should be consumed in moderation, lest they interfere with the absorption and function of the pills. They include bananas, pumpkin, beef, almonds, lima beans, peanuts, egg yolk, soy sauce, dark fish and meats, seafood, avocado, lima beans and pickled herring.
  2. Other foods promote the whitening process. These include apples, grapes, yogurt, milk, onions, cabbage, broccoli, garlic, Brussels sprouts, horseradish, turnips, asparagus and egg whites.
  3. Soy-based products contain genistein, an isoflavone that acts as an antioxidant. It has also been shown to mimic the effects of estrogen in the human body. Genistein is said to increase melanin production and have a similar effect on tyrosinase, which are the enzymes of the skin's pigment cells. Therefore, it is recommended that soy foods be consumed in moderation.
  4. Foods containing coloring of any sort are to be avoided, as they contain elevated amounts of pigment.
  5. Coffee, tea, diet sodas and sugar-free foods all contribute to the skin's pigmentation. The aspartame in the latter two products may increase the production of eumelanin (a type of melanin found in human skin and hair; it is deficient in albinos).
  6. Stay out of the sunlight if possible. If exposed to sunlight, be sure to use sunscreen at all times.
  7. Exfoliate the skin regularly. Removal of dead skin cells and debris contributes to a smoother, renewed surface, which in turn is thought to "accept" the benefits of the skin whitening pills more readily.

FACE PAINT is A BIG DEAL!

We got some great shots of the kiddos in the trees on campus. I have now learned that children are not allowed in the trees. But they still looked cute right?!

Liquid Courage

I attended my first 'real' grown up cocktail party. Well I should really say that I attended my first 'real' grown up cocktail party that wasn't a Christmas celebration, or a birthday party, or an office celebration. It was a cocktail party at David Gardner's Jewelers. A Little Black Dress kind of night. My job was to sell raffle tickets for our Charity Ball coming up in November. The raffle tickets, while expensive, are for a great cause. But when we arrived to sign in and gather our tickets I was just really nervous. Not because I couldn't sell these tickets, but just because everyone looked so nice!!

The bartender told me not to worry because she had liquid courage behind the counter.

I couldn't resist.

"What's that?" I asked her with eyes wide open, thinking to myself, this sounds amazing, it's exactly what I NEED!

"Oh, you know, beer and wine." Replied the nice bartender.

Ok, now this sounds great. Beer and wine. Mixed together to make liquid courage. Well I like beer. And I like wine...so I will probably like liquid courage! I was so excited that I was going to get to try liquid courage. And when I actually need it most too!

"Ok, I'll be back!" I told the bartender. I just wanted to make a round around the place and scout out my options to sell to people first.

A little later on in the evening, feeling defeated, and watching the room fill up with tons and tons of people. Not selling any tickets whatsoever...another server came up to me and asked if I'd like something to drink, and I ordered liquid courage. My friend Jamie told the server, "No, she will take the same thing I'm drinking."

"No...I-"

Jamie cut me off.

"She'll take what I'm drinking, two white wine's please."

I was then informed the news I couldn't believe was true. Liquid courage is not a an actual beverage. It is a just a name for alcohol.

Didn't know this. But before you attend a black tie affair, maybe you should.

Or maybe bartender's shouldn't go around calling beer and wine liquid courage...

Ok, or maybe I should have just known this being 27 and all.

At least I made the people standing around me laugh. YOU know, that lady who actually thought that she was ordering a beverage called liquid courage. =]

Favorite Quotes

I have a facebook page. I always seem to add so much to my quote section! I just wanted to remember them without really deleting them forever. ;)

Each one brings me to that specific road trip, place in time, memory, and triggers the emotion that comes with having great friends and happy moments. Even Jacee-Kay telling me I'm a crazy person for brushing her hair. Here they now live:

"I can't take a picture with the baby right now, because I'm allergic" Jck

"My mommy ate a pumpkin seed, so that's why there's a pumpkin growing in her belly" Jck explaining to the doctor why my belly is growing.

"Mom, can we go to McDonald's now so I can shake my groove thing?"~ JCK wanting to go to McDonalds on a random whim.

"Why don't you take a nap and I'll drive!" ~ Jacee-Kay after I asked her to take a nap on a road trip.

"YOU ARE A CRAZY PERSON" ~ Jacee-Kay telling me I'm crazy for brushing her hair too hard in the mornings.
(It may sound bad but I have to laugh so hard that I can't correct her or punish her for calling me crazy, besides she may be right!)

"my story is one of a girl who lost her reputation and never missed it" =)

"RAWR" ~Chelsea Tate Teradactyling outside the dorm window in the middle of the afternoon...killing a blue jay

"Thanks for saving me...Hot was getting on my nerves" -The Mild package from Taco Bell

Game Day In Aggieland

Today we went to the Junior Yell for Lil Aggies.

Gig 'Em!

My spunky little love:

Jacee-Kay is so funny in her expressions. When she's excited about something it's written all over her face. I love that she shows her smile when she's happy. =] It's such a great smile.

I just love this picture of Blakey eating her McEDee's hamburger. She really has a blooming personality, with a mind of her own. I love watching her eat. And I absolutely love fixin her favorite meals. My love bug.

She's my snuggle little love! She's such an Aggie baby!
